Commitment

I am going to run my first 5k! Well, in Februaury I am going to run my first 5k. I am very excited and motivated...today. Tomrrow probably, next week probably not so much. I am not a runner, I want to be, but I am just not. It feels more like a chore sometimes, but after a good run I feel great.

So, after taking about trying to lose baby weight, and how I would love to be a runner for so long...I decided to commit. I am going to commit myself to running, because I know once I get over the intial hurdle I will be so glad I did it.

When I made up my mind I was going to do this, I knew I would have to stay motivated and be held accountable. I have been reading articles, and following along with other runners, and have found myself getting so excited for them when they share their acomplishments...it's contagious! It has been very motivating to me.

I also comitted by finding a 5K race I thought I would enjoying running. I found a race that, I believe, will be a perfect match for my first. It is called the Guns & Hoses. It is a charity run in a county close to ours where the local fire fighters aka the "hoses", and the local police aka the "guns" compete in two teams to see who can get the most runners on their team. The winning team will get a trophy, and a precentage of the fee to enter the race will go towards a certian child/family in need. I fell in love with this, for several reasons....A) my husband is a fire fighter so we think things like this are just fun in  general B) I love it is going to contribute to a charity C) I am loving that is a competition between two teams, and you get to decide if you want to be a gun or a hose,(any guesses on what were going to be?) it makes it more fun! So I am super excited and can't wait to get the ball rolling, or maybe my feet running would be a better phrase;)

Oh I almost forgot, an added bonus?! My hubs is going to do it with me! Yay!

Have any of you ever run a 5K, or any race for that matter? Any tips?

hugs,

Meet Snappy Jack

Do you do the Elf On the Shelf? We do, well this is the first year Colt will actually really understand whats going on! His name is Snappy Jack! I am so excited, he arrived at our house last night...and we read the book before we went to bed! I could hardly wait to see Colts expression in the morning when he woke up to find a North Pole breakfast waiting for him. I saw this idea on Little Pumpkin Grace last year and fell in love with the idea.

A MONSTER of a party

My little Colt will be turning 3! I can't believe how fast each year goes by...it breaks my heart, but also is so exciting to watch him grow! I adore being his mama. For his birthday party this year I asked him what kind of party he wanted to have, he replied...a MONSTER PARTY(in a very loud monstery voice)! So a monster party it is. Of course being that he is only three, we are having a silly monster party.

My friend Shannon, is helping me with all of the decorations tomrrow! I can hardly wait for some girl time, and some mad monster making skills! Once we have some of the decorations made I will do a follow up post. Pinterest has been (as always) so helpful with coming up with super cute ideas!

For the love of coffee...filters

I know that by no means am I the first one to make one of these lovely wreaths, but I have been admiring them for sometime. Finally, I got around to making one and they are so much prettier in person!

What I do not love is the insane bliters I had on my hand, and my leg( yes I said leg) that my glue gun gave me! I fought with it all yesterday...I am not sure why we just can not get along! Was it worth it? Yes, they will eventually go away and like childbirth I will forget about the pain, and have a nifty wreath to enjoy in the end.

It was a rainy, dreary day here and couldn't get a super great picture because the lighting was so off. The pictures really do not do it justice. So, Instead of my showing you my beat up blistered hands;) I decided to include a link incase you decided to make one yourself!

If you make one I would love to see it! But for now I think I am going to soak my hands is some ice or something! Good luck and happy gluing!

Take Two

So...I decided to start a blog, for the second time. The first time I constantly felt like I needed something profound to say, and never had anything. I would get so caught up reading other blogs, that I wouldn't have any time left to post on my own! This time around I hope to be different. I am not posting for everyone else with something profound to say. I am posting for me, and for my family. Making memories for us to look back on someday. With two little boys under 3 it's going by fast...almost too fast sometimes! I just want to hang on and enjoy the ride while I can, before it's over...won't you join me!?
